Eating together
At Hope Community School, our school lunches are freshly prepared by City Catering, ensuring nutritious, balanced, and delicious meals for our students. We are pleased to offer free school meals to children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2, and we warmly encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity by opting for a hot meal at no cost.
For children in other year groups, school lunches are available at a cost of £2.95 per day unless your child is eligible for Free School Meals. We kindly request that all school dinners be paid for in advance using our secure, cashless online payment system, ParentMail. If you have not yet set up an account, our school office will be happy to assist you with the details. Sibling accounts can be linked, allowing families to manage payments for multiple children with ease.
City Catering provides a varied two-course meal on a three-week rotational menu, offering children three choices daily and you will see our current menu below. Specially adapted menus are available for children with allergies or intolerances to ensure every child can safely enjoy their meal. Please see below the information sheet giving more information.
If you believe you may be entitled to Free School Meals and have not already applied, we encourage you to use this link Southampton City Council’s website for more details. Applications can be submitted using the link at the bottom of that page. Even if your child is in Reception, Year 1, or Year 2 and already receives free meals, we recommend applying if you are eligible, as entitlement comes with additional benefits such as supermarket vouchers during lockdown periods and additional funding for the school.
To protect children with allergies, our school has a strict no-nut policy. Please ensure that no items brought into school contain nuts. Families also have the option of providing packed lunches, and we encourage healthy eating at Hope Community School. Packed lunches should not include nuts, sweets or sugary items, and we ask that fizzy drinks be avoided. Children are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
For snacks, Reception and KS1 children are provided with a piece of fruit during break times, while KS2 children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to create a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment for all children at Hope Community School. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
