Vision – What's the destination?
We want our children to be the menders, makers, movers and shakers of their generation – equipped with the academic skills and character needed to be community pioneers wherever they find themselves.
Values – Rules for the road.
We have four core values which guide us in how we work together and shape the characteristics we are looking to foster in our children. These are openness, creativity, adventure and excellence. In order to ensure these values shape everything we do, we focus on a core value every half-term. We learn more about what each value looks like every Monday during a dedicated class collective, and we then look to celebrate where we see these characteristics in action.
Openness
At Hope Community School, we nurture openness by encouraging children to be curious, inclusive and ready to learn from one another. Through open questions, active listening and respectful discussion, pupils are supported to explore new ideas and viewpoints. We develop a growth mindset, helping children see challenges as opportunities to learn, while teamwork builds confidence, cooperation and compassion. Openness also means including everyone and valuing difference. Rooted in our Christian ethos, this value is shaped by humility, discernment and a desire to know God more deeply, enabling children to serve others with understanding, kindness and love.

Creativity
At Hope Community School, Creativity is about using imagination purposefully to have new ideas and solve problems. Children are encouraged to explore ideas beyond boundaries, challenge norms and persevere when learning feels difficult. Through creative tasks, pupils learn to be productive, resilient and confident problem solvers who see mistakes as part of the process. Creativity is deeply rooted in our Christian ethos: we worship a Creator God, and we are made in His image (Genesis 1:27). When used humbly and faithfully, creative gifts help children reflect God’s beauty, bring hope, and serve others in a changing world.

Adventure
At Hope Community School, Adventure means being courageous, curious and willing to keep on trying, even when learning feels challenging. We encourage children to ask questions, take positive risks and step beyond their comfort zones, building persistence and resilience along the way. Through adventurous learning, pupils grow in confidence and develop the strength to face new situations with hope. This value is deeply rooted in our Christian ethos: Christianity is not a call to comfort, but to faithful adventure. Jesus promises His presence on the journey, and as children grow in courage and perseverance, they are developing the faith and character God uses to lead and serve others well.
Excellence
At Hope Community School, Excellence is about doing our best and continually striving to improve. We encourage children to aim high, take pride in their work and develop the discipline and integrity needed to persevere and grow. Excellence is not about being perfect, but about learning from feedback, showing commitment and giving effort in all we do. This value is deeply rooted in our Christian ethos—not driven by performance or pride, but as a wholehearted response to God’s call to steward our gifts well. When shaped by love, integrity and diligence, excellence becomes a way children honour God and serve others faithfully.
