PSHE stands for Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education.
A significant part of our PSHE curriculum is delivered through the myHappymind programme, an NHS-backed, award-winning curriculum designed to build children’s resilience, self-esteem and happiness. Rooted in neuroscience and positive psychology, the programme takes a proactive approach to mental health. Rather than waiting until difficulties arise, it teaches children lifelong habits that support positive wellbeing from the very start.
At the heart of myHappymind is the belief that understanding how the brain works helps children take ownership of their thoughts, feelings and actions. By learning the “why” behind their emotions, pupils are empowered to make positive choices, manage stress and develop healthy coping strategies. The programme also aims to reduce stigma around mental health through open discussion and shared language across the school community.
The curriculum is carefully structured from Early Years to Year 6, with transition support in Year 6. Each year group explores five core modules: Meet Your Brain, Celebrate, Appreciate, Relate and Engage. Through engaging digital lessons, journals, songs and activities, children learn to build self-esteem, practise gratitude, set goals, strengthen relationships and develop focus and perseverance.
myHappymind takes a whole-school approach. Alongside pupil lessons, there is a Parent App to support learning at home and a CPD-certified staff wellbeing programme. This ensures a consistent, shared culture where wellbeing is prioritised for children, families and staff alike.
More than a weekly lesson, myHappymind is embedded into daily school life—equipping our children with the knowledge, habits and confidence to flourish both now and in the future.
