Lunch will be an important part of our day. It will be a time for us to gather together as a community. Our dining space will accommodate as many of our pupils to dine together as possible. We will model a family style meal and eating arrangements that foster a sense of collaboration and social responsibility. Children will sit in mixed age group tables and learn to serve one another, including the adults at their table. They will use glassware, crockery and cutlery.
Adults who work within the school will eat with the children, offering an ideal opportunity for coaches and mentors to have informal contact with pupils. Families are also invited to join us for any lunchtime to be a part of what happens. However, this needs to be booked in with the school office in advance.
We will provide a hot meal and desert, which is free for children in reception, year 1 and 2 via Government funding. As much as possible we encourage children to eat the hot meals to encourage them to try different foods and explore new flavours. If you prefer, you can also provide your child with a packed lunch.
