Hope Community School, Northfleet is part of the New Generation Schools Trust which currently runs a primary school in Sidcup, Kent.
As a free school, we are being set up with the full support of the Department for Education in response to what local people feel they need in order to improve education for children in their community.
We will be subject to inspections by Ofsted and our SATs results will be published in tables in the same way as traditional state schools. We will work closely with the local authority recognising our role as part of the broader educational offer available to families in the city.
Hope Community School, Northfleet will have a Local Governing Body that is responsible for working with the school to ensure it delivers high quality education. We will have a shadow Local Governing Body until the school opens, at which point this will become a full Local Governing Body. The Governing Body will be drawn from the local community.
The Governing body will have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• Holding the Head Teacher accountable for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of the staff
• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure finances are well spent.
