Governance

New Generation Schools Trust is a company limited by guarantee (07963778) and also an exempt charity.

New Generation Schools Trust (NGST) was established as a Trust with a single school in Sidcup.  From this small beginning a family of schools is growing with the approval of proposals for Hope Community Schools in Southampton and Northfleet.  As our schools are growing so is our governance structure and we have recently become a Multi Academy Trust (MAT).

As a MAT, there are two elements to the governance of NGST schools – local governance is delivered on behalf of the Trust via Hope Councils and Trust-wide governance is delivered via the board of Trustees and the Executive Team, employed on their behalf.

Hope Councils exist to challenge and support the school in delivering the vision of the Trust and to ensure each school has a distinct local identity that is relevant to and reflective of the community they serve.

Legal responsibility for all NGST schools lies with the board of Trustees and not with Hope Councils.  The more onerous tasks of governance such as setting budgets, writing policies, and establishing legal compliance sit with the board of Trustees, freeing Hope Council Members to focus their energy on actually delivering the vision and ethos of the school.

Please see the 'Our Board' page for information about the NGST Board of Trustees.
